Position Summary:
Under general oversight of the Director of Enterprise Security the Emergency Management & Life Safety Manager manages all aspects of the emergency management and fire life safety programs for all sites within the corporate portfolio.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Acts as a subject matter expert and internal consultant on emergency management and fire life safety for all sites within the corporate portfolio.
Develops Emergency Response Plan (ERP) templates and assists local resources in development of site specific ERPs.
Investigates, researches, and makes recommendations regarding best practices with respect to emergency preparedness and life safety. Tracks corrective actions that arise from drills, exercises, and actual events. Identifies systems and operational problems, proposes solutions, and works to build consensus.
Oversees implementation of National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS) programs across all sites.
Develops corporate standards for exercising site specific and enterprise level ERPs, and coordinates their implementation.
Designs emergency response drills and coordinates their deployment across all sites.
Ensures that all sites/entities are compliant with life safety requirements from various regulatory agencies and accreditors.
Coordinates with the Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery and other groups to ensure a seamless approach to crisis management.
Develops and assists in deployment of Safety & Security Awareness Program (SSAP) modules related to areas of expertise
Maintains relationships with federal, state, local, and industry specific emergency management and life safety organizations.
Complies with all ECMC Group Policies
Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Required:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
Experience in managing emergency management & fire life safety programs.
Familiarity with NIMS and/or ICS emergency management systems.
Preferred:
Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) and/or Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS), or other equivalent professional certification.
FEMA certification in NIMS and/or ICS emergency management systems.
Experience managing security and/or fire safety technology for an organization with multiple geographically diverse sites.
Experience designing and managing emergency management and fire safety programs in an open campus environment.
Experience designing and managing emergency management and fire safety programs in a high rise environment.
Experience working in a matrix management environment.
Experience developing and implementing policies and procedures.

Preferred:
Knowledge of fire, life safety, and emergency management requirements for university campuses.
PHYSICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for a long period of time
Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, copy machines/printers
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as copy machine, and computer printer
Frequently communicates with management, teams, through face-to-face, email or phone. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Required to work normal hours to successfully perform the job responsibilities
May need to work nights and weekends to complete assignments
May need to respond to emergency situations on short notice
Regular travel to out-of-state sites up to 50% of the time
Frequently subjected to interruptions, multiple calls and inquiries
Employee works in an office environment. Employee sits at a desk during regularly scheduled work hours; answers and makes telephone calls using a standard telephone; types on a standard keyboard; reads and comprehends information from a computer terminal and/or written resources.
