  Public Safety Officer 3   Penn State, Altoona Campus is seeking to fill a full-time Police Officer position. The assigned work hours may vary and the candidate must be available to work any hours as assigned. University Police Officers are responsible for carrying out the functions of protection of life and property, preservation of peace and good order of the community, enforcement of laws, investigative work and other related duties. This position requires the availability and willingness to work various hours, including patrol and special details/events. The position is responsible for the prevention of criminal, unsafe or undesirable activity and regulatory violations through pro-active policing techniques. The candidate will be required to respond to requests for assistance or service and reports of criminal activity and apply appropriate decision making skills to properly handle these incidents. The candidate will be required to complete detailed reports documenting his/her activities utilizing the Department`s computerized records management system. The candidate will possess the skills necessary to enhance public respect for law enforcement and the University with courteous, devoted and ethical service and will demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively with various levels of faculty, staff, students, and outside agencies in this customer service oriented position. Requires Act 120 Certification, ability to pass a criminal background investigation, U.S. Citizenship, age 21 or older, ability to pass a psychological evaluation and physical ability test, and be in good general health as determined by a University physical examination. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
